Assessment 1-Unmaking

The purpose of the exercise was to carefully identify and disassemble the constituent components of a functioning object for the purpose of documenting their relationship to one another. This required the production of elevations, sections, an axonometric and an interpretive diagram.

This exercise was very useful, not only for the immediate purpose of developing technical skills, but also for appreciating how an object functions through the workings of all its components- and importantly how to best represent this visually. The opportunity to produce the interpretive drawing was the most enjoyable. I used collage to redefine/transform some of the vacuum's components into more organic features(suction hose into leach, motor into heart).
